Sitting down to write a blog post feels almost daunting. How can we possibly put any of what we are feeling and all the things we are thinking into a post that makes sense?
The answer is, we don't even try. At least the making sense part.
Right now is about showing up for the day, just one at a time.
We know that Three Trees Sway is not alone in being called to shift perspectives and show up in new ways. In the midst of so much unknown and change, one thing remains very true. We are not going anywhere. Us, along with our big feelings & the overthinking rabbit holes we tend to follow, are in it for the long haul.
Same us, new flavor.
Those rabbit holes we sometimes get lost in? They also, when the stars align, lead us to some significant beauty.
Following a recent rabbit hole of, "This new life is nuts. Too many people are hurting. What the hell can we do???" we landed on an idea.
Bread
It was simple. First the unsettling need to do something, then the idea, then the gathering of badass bakers, then getting word out for accountability, then.....magic.
Liz and Cakes, along with some TTS retreat alums (Chrissy, Rose, and Danielle), came together and put their shared love of carbs to good use. They each baked their gorgeous hearts out. This past Sunday a stand was set up on Cakes' front lawn. It was a first come first serve situation. In just one hour they were completely sold out and $1,000 was raised to help healthcare workers. Gift cards were purchased and are being distributed to healthcare workers by another one of our alums, Trudy. Trudy is one of the many that we know and love (we see you too Carey, Kim, and Catalina) on the front line. Thank you does't do it justice. We love you and are so so so grateful.
This new way of face masks and not being able to hug those we love is hard. It hurts and feels so very wrong.
And at the very same time there is the generosity of the human spirit, the acknowledgment of sacrifice within our communities and the simple love shared with good wholesome food. Some things are timeless gifts. Ones that we are choosing to hold tight to.
So......
Since last weekend was such a success, it shall continue. This Saturday a stand will, again, be set up on Cakes' front lawn. "Doors" open at 3pm. No reservations. First come, first serve. This time all proceeds will go towards food pantries in need. If you are on Long Island and would like more info, please send us an email at threetreessway@gmail.com
